August 15, 2021, changes plunged the country into crisis. The withdrawal of the donor community, the withdrawal of global aid, imposition of sanctions, and freezing of the government's capital, along with existing poverty issues and natural disasters has placed the nation in a desperate situation. Thousands of Afghan citizens have sought to move to other countries as refugees while many of those remaining have lost their jobs and are currently living in insecure condition. Today Afghan people are faced with a humanitarian crisis that threatens the most basic of human rights. Economic life is largely paralyzed with the collapse of the banking system and a severe liquidity crisis. All Afghans face unprecedented and worsening levels of food insecurity. Furthermore, Women and girl in particular face great uncertainty with erosion of their ability to participate and contribute to society generally, reversing the important gains made in the past two decades. Women rights are being eroded through such things as a reduction in the minimum age for marriage, access to education, to work, to freedom of movement, or to participate in social, political, and economic affairs. As more Afghans struggle to meet their basic needs, people in vulnerable situations, notably women-headed households and children are being pushed to take desperate measures, including child labor, the marriage of children and even the sale of children to ensure their survival.
